Association for Consumer Research

The ACR Board of Directors is open to proposals for hosting the 2028 Latin America ACR (LA-ACR) conference. ACR holds a Latin America conference every three years with the goal of further lowering research barriers and enhancing knowledge diffusion in consumer research. The conference is usually co-sponsored by an academic institution in the host country. The conference co-chairs hold complete responsibility for managing their budget and ACR does not offer financial support beyond managing the conference registration process and offering a potentially discounted group rate for the conference management system (for paper submission and reviewing).

The proposal should include information about the co-sponsor and a detailed budget showing expected attendance, other sources of revenue (e.g., sponsorship money), registration fees, possible expenses, etc. As much detail as possible on the location, potential hotels, potential interest to ACR members, ability to meet the conference goals of lowering research barriers and enhancing knowledge diffusion in the region would assist Board members in evaluating the proposal. In general, we expect that as a group, the conference chairs will demonstrate in their proposal their prior commitment to ACR through sustained and active membership in the organization and a scholarly record in the domain of consumer research.

As the primary sponsor, ACR would be responsible for publishing the Proceedings of the conference for which the conference chairs will serve as editors. The budget needs to include a fee to ensure the proceedings are typeset to meet ACR’s rigorous publication guidelines. Please contact us for details.

Submission should be done in two steps:

  1. Please email ACR Executive Director, Rajiv Vaidyanathan (rvaidyan@d.umn.edu) by July 1st, 2026, to learn more, express your interest, or intention to submit, and to receive guidance on best practices and expectations.
  2. Complete and submit your final proposal by September 4, 2026, to acr@acrwebsite.org. Following this, the ACR Board of Directors will consider all proposals and make a final decision, with notifications following Chicago 2026. Your proposal may be emailed to Rajiv for review and suggestions prior to being finalized.
